Opening Time at Every Day Fiction

Thursday, January 03, 2008, 9:51 AM

My flash fiction piece is online at EveryDayFiction.com, all 500 words of it. It may be small, but I hope it packs a bit of a punch. Not the cheeriest piece, actually...

Thanks, Betsy. And additional thanks for helping me whip it into shape. You'll notice the lack of wheelbarrows. :D

enjoyed the voice very much. the one-sided convo i liked as well. what is it about irish-speak that makes me think it's automatically not of this period? it's a strange reaction.

like my hub's friend said, why do all the baddies in LOTR have a cockney accent?

congrats! i enjoyed the read.

That's a really nice piece, Conduit. I love monologue. Congratulations!

I wasn't familiar with the 'zine, have signed up for my daily story now!

I thought that was really excellent. Very fast read, very intense. And it makes me realize I would really love to read a longer piece by Mr. Neville!

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone. Ello, there's a couple of links to longer short stories on the left hand menu if you're interested. :)

Very edgy and bleak. I too really like the one-sided conversation.

Cheery is sometimes overrated. Loved the voice in that piece. The POV is very distinct and sharp. Excellent. Congrats and I hope you get more work published soon!

I've come back to read more by Mr. Neville. But where has the elusive Mr. Neville gone to? Hopefully to write more, in which case his absence will be ceompletely acceptable! ;o)

Thanks for your concern, Ello. Unfortunately, my absence has been mainly die to work. :(

Anti-Wife & Precie: thanks!

Hey--thanks in part to your fine example, I took the plunge and submitted something to Every Day Fiction.

And they accepted!

So, thank you! (Mine's not on the cheery side either...)
